Thought of June'12 - "World Peace"

World peace!  Wanted by everybody, but nobody knows how to acquire it.

We human beings are not more than a beast inside. Everybody has a heart, a conscience - a court of self-judgment; but a few of us use it. A World, which is the sum of more than 7 billions of people, with only 10% having conscience, finding peace in it is like finding a needle in a haystack. In developed counties, (like USA, UK, Germany, Canada, France, etc.) peace means a different thing that of a third-world country (like Bangladesh, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Nepal, etc.). Economic consistencies, cultural growth, domination over minor countries are some of the peace factors of developed countries, where supply of daily necessities, keeping cultural identity alive and managing financial help from developing countries refers to peace in third-world countries.

How one can contribute to world peace where he has to struggle every second of his life? Peace has nothing to do with rich or poor. Therefore, a rich may seek for peace- rush for the destiny, wailing for a sound sleep or lamentation for what he had done wrong are similar to that of a poor seek for peace- managing food, clothing and other daily necessities.

We all have our own circle of bindings. We can’t cross the limit without overcoming those bindings. World peace is an idea simple in principle but difficult to achieve in practice because, as individual members of our species, we have not found peace within ourselves. Societies cannot be peaceful societies until the members of the society look peacefully toward each other. But, it is impossible to look peacefully toward each other under constant threat for one’s survival.

In spite of all the hindrances, we are talking about world peace and talking about it seriously. Because we have seen the massacre in world war II, fading out of dominated countries for cold war and finally the so called war against terrorism in Afganistan and Iraq. These incidents have opened the eyes of the whole world. The wise men counted that the human civilization would be ruined to the bit, if a war ever takes place. So, they are working hard to establish permanent peace in the world. Except some war-mongers, the whole world is in favor of peace.

United Nations (UN) Organization is the outcome of the desire of the world people. The organization is working for world peace by persuasion, conciliation, arbitration and by fighting against the culprit country in acute case. The “Panchasila” or the five points propounded by Jawaharlal Nehru has been accepted by many countries for world peace. The five points are

(1) Mutual respect for one another's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

(2) Non-aggression.

(3) Non-interference in one another's internal affairs for any reason of economic, political or ideological character.

(4) Equality and mutual benefit.

(5) Peaceful co-existence.

World peace organizations are finally starting to get more attention.  In the wake of many turbulent situations around the world, it seems that some people are finally starting to see the light.  This is directly due to the unending work of several world peace organizations.  We would like to take a moment to truly appreciate and think about all of the wonderful things that these peace organizations have done for us.  This is all in hopes that they will continue to spread peace and that one day, we will live together in tolerance and peace.

Human beings have a unique characteristic. They are selfish in case of the rights of themselves, but when it comes to consider in a greater extent- they are the most generous species in the universe. So, we can hope to have world peace today or tomorrow.
